Online Tool Ranks Most Popular NFL Jerseys

You more or less know how your favorite NFL players stack up on the field. But do you ever wonder which stars have the most cachet with fans in the market for a new jersey to wear to games?
A new online tool from Dick’s Sporting Goods shows just that. Called the Jersey Report, it’s a daily ranking of the top 10 most sought-after player uniforms. So far, Indianapolis nfl jerseys supply Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, the first overall in pick in last spring’s draft, leads the board by accounting for more than 7% of all jersey sales. He’s followed by new Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, New York Giants Eli Manning and Victor Cruz, and New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.
The page tracks sales at the more than 450 Dick’s stores nationwide, and you can sort by overall, offensive player, defensive player or rookie rankings. While the tool doesn’t necessarily provide insight for total jersey sales — just items sold by Dick’s — chances are it’s a pretty accurate reflection of the most popular NFL jerseys in general.

While the nfl jerseys supply Jersey Report isn’t a world-changer or anything, it is a fun and original little marketing toy for NFL fans to check out. (And of course, while you’re there, Dick’s hopes you’ll click the “Buy Now” button next to your favorite player’s shirt.) What would be cool to see is the NFL itself launch a copycat push that incorporated licensed jersey sales from all stores and sources for a comprehensive overview.
The Jersey Report isn’t Dick’s only football-themed digital initiative this fall, though. It also used its YouTube channel to launch an original short video series called “Hell Week,” which follows the preseason preparations of an elite Michigan high school team in the style of HBO’s hit NFL show “Hard Knocks.”
What do you think — is the Jersey Report lame or fun? Give us your take in the comments.
